Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 29, 2011) — The JBU women’s volleyball team improved to 17-14 overall and 5-7 in conference play after defeating Oklahoma City 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in Bill George Arena.

OCU took the first set 25-20 before JBU fought back to win sets two and three 25-21 and 25-20 respectively.  In the fourth, OCU sprinted out to a 20-9 lead, but the Eagles fought back before losing 19-25. 

JBU jumped ahead in the fifth 9-6, but OCU managed to tie things up after three straight kills.  After falling behind 12-13, JBU regrouped and rallied to take a 14-13 lead before OCU tied it up.  Freshman Courtney Marshall picked up a kill giving the Eagles a 15-14 lead before an OCU attack error ended the match in JBU’s favor.

Senior Allie Rankin led the Lady Eagles offensively with 19 kills followed by junior Erin Didier with 14.  Sophomore Kailey Bain tossed up 27 assists, and junior Aubrey Adams had 19.  Bain also had four aces.

On the defensive end, senior Sarah Jordan had 26 digs followed by Erin Didier with 13.  Rankin had seven blocks. 

The ladies return to action on the road on Thursday, Nov. 3 against Oklahoma Baptist at 7 p.m. in Shawnee.
