Cross Country competes in the NAIA Mid-States Classic

John Brown University's Cross Country teams competed in the NAIA Mid-States Classic in Winfield, Kan. on Saturday morning.
For the men's team, freshman Marcos Gutierrez finished first for JBU in the 8K run and 58th overall out of 209 runners with a time of 27:03:22. Junior Kyle Schmidt had a time of 27:11:05, placing 64th overall and finishing second for JBU. Coming in third for JBU was Tekste Gebreslasse as 79th overall with a time of 27:44:73. The JBU men’s team finished 13th overall out of 21 teams total.
On the women's team, freshman Kari Miller finished first for JBU in the 5K run and 39th overall out of 171 runners with a time of 19:50:84. Sophomore Valerie Kliewer directly followed Miller placing second for JBU and finishing 40th with a time of 19:51:20. Coming in third for JBU, sophomore Melissa Roth had a time of 19:59:42 and finished 47th overall. The JBU women’s team finished 9th overall out of 20 teams total.
Next, cross country will be competing in the SAC tournament taking place on Friday, November 14.
