Cross Country competes in Bison Invitational

John Brown University's Cross Country teams competed in the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison Invitational in Shawnee, Okla. on Saturday afternoon.
For the men's team, sophomore Tekste Gebrelasse finished first for JBU in the 8K run and 23rd overall out of 84 runners with a time of 27:24:50. Freshman Marcos Gutierrez finished second for JBU and 26th overall with a time of 27:32:00, and junior Kyle Schmidt had a time of 27:40:20, placing 28th overall and finishing third for JBU. The JBU men’s team finished fifth overall out of nine teams total.
On the women's team, sophomore Melissa Roth finished first for JBU in the 5K run and 19th overall out of 80 runners with a time of 20:09:00. Sophomores Valerie Kliewer and freshman Kari Miller, placed second and third respectively for JBU, and finished 21st and 24th overall with times of 20:13:00 and 20:23:00. The JBU women’s team finished sixth overall out of nine teams total.
Next, cross country will be running in the 5K/8K Chili Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday, October 15.
