Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 12, 2011) — The JBU men’s basketball team came away with a hard earned 68-55 win over Mid-America Christian (Okla.) on Saturday evening in Bill George Arena.

With the win the men improve to 17-7 overall and 9-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, while MACU drops to 11-12 overall and 7-10 in the SAC.

Andrius Mikutis had 16 points and seven rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles.  And Adrian Miller was close behind with 15 points, seven boards, and four assists.  Andy Garcia also had a huge night and was a point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 caroms.

For MACU, John Shodipo led with 13 points, followed by Bradley Cosby with 11.

After a tight first half, JBU only led by one, 27-26, going into the break.

The second half, opened with both teams trading baskets, but at 12:32, EJ McWoods sparked a JBU run that helped the Golden Eagles take the momentum the rest of the way.

With 7:49 remaining, Miller scored on the inside  to make it 51-41, but a pair of MACU freebies on the other end would cut it back down to a single digit game.  JBU quickly struck back with a 8-0 run to push their lead to 16 with 4:43 left.

MACU tried to regroup but couldn’t stymie the Golden Eagle attack as JBU held on for the 13 point victory.

For the game, JBU dominated the glass with a 48-21 rebound margin with 19 coming on the offensive end.  The Golden Eagles used this to their advantage and scored 14 second chance points compared to only two by MACU.

From the floor, JBU shot 42.6 percent (23-of-54) compared to 40 percent (20-of-50) from MACU, which included going 0-of-12 from long distance.

Up next for the Golden Eagles is a makeup date with Oklahoma City on Monday at 8 p.m.
