JBU ANNOUNCES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SODERQUIST CNTR

Siloam Springs, Ark (August 25, 1998) — John Brown University will announce the creation of the Donald G. Soderquist Center for Business Leadership and Ethics on Thursday, August 27, at the Holiday Inn, Highways US 412 and US 71 in Springdale, Arkansas. The luncheon will begin at 11:30 am and will conclude at 1:00 pm.

The Donald G. Soderquist Center for Business Leadership and Ethics, located on the campus of John Brown University in Siloam Springs, will provide world-class resources for executive leadership development and ethics training for men and women from around the world. The Center will include academic degree programs, conferences, seminars, and a retreat center offering opportunities for leadership and ethics training, strategic planning and innovation.

Providing motivation and education in leadership and ethics that is distinctly based on Christian principles and values, the Soderquist Center on the campus of JBU will serve a critical role in developing sound values for current and future leaders.

The Center is a recognition of the leadership of Dr. Donald G. Soderquist. His example, dedication and integrity model the Center's purpose to JBU and the greater international business community. Don Soderquist has exemplified ethical leadership throughout his life and professional career with great success.

Don Soderquist, who joined Wal-Mart in 1980, serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Operating Officer. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Trustees at John Brown University as well as a board member with the Children's Miracle Network, the International Mass Retail Association and others.

There will be many facets to the Soderquist Center. It will be an educational center, a research center, an information clearing house, a conference facility, and an innovation laboratory.

The tremendously urgent need for leadership and ethical training is evidenced in the newspaper headlines and television reports everyday. John Brown University's long standing philosophy of educating the Head, Heart and Hand provides the ideal setting for a center promoting leadership and ethics. We believe this Center will have a worldwide impact.

Corporate Founding Partners already committed to the project include Wal-Mart Stores Foundation, Proctor & Gamble Foundation, Simmons Foods Inc., Kraft Foods, Day Spring Cards, Hershey Foods and Nintendo of America, Inc.

The first Soderquist Distinguished Fellow will be Ken Blanchard, co-author of the best selling "One Minute Manager" series.
