CELLIST DAVID LOW TO PERFORM AT JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY

Siloam Springs, Ark (February 6, 1998) — Cellist David Low, Kayser Distinguished Professor of Cello at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, will perform with pianist Susan Wass on Sunday, Feb. 22, in Jones Recital Hall at John Brown University. From solo performances in China with the Beijing Film Philharmonic to repeat recitals in Carnegie Recital Hall, Low's stage presence and personality have delighted audiences and cities everywhere. New York Times critic Edward Rothstein called his playing, "sincerely passionate, evocatively intense, acute and energetic. The tone was rich the phrasing intelligent he communicated his ideas with conviction."

Famed violinist and violin teacher Josef Gingold said of Low, "A superior cellist. He has the technique of a virtuoso plus a beautiful tone as well as being a splendid musician." Low has been principal cellist of the Chicago Baroque Ensemble, the Sacramento Symphony, the Omaha Symphony and the Omaha Chamber Orchestra. He has recorded two solo albums: "Alinchino 2" and "The Late Romantic Cello."

Low will be accompanied by pianist Susan Wass. A native of Garland, Texas, she is much in demand as an accompanist, adjudicator and teacher.
