Siloam Springs, Ark (December 11, 2002) - The John Brown University music department is now registering students for its “Introduction to Church Music” class. The 16-week class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:45 to 4:00 at the JBU campus in Siloam Springs beginning January 14.
Local worship pastors Mickey Rapier of Fellowship Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas and Les Oliver of Central United Methodist Church of Rogers will team-teach the class. Mickey Rapier is the Pastor of Celebration Ministries for Fellowship Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas. Les Oliver is Minister of Music, Worship, and the Arts at Central United Methodist Church.
“Introduction to Church Music” will be a practical class that offers insights into such topics as: developing a personal philosophy of worship; historical and modern worship styles; planning, preparing and leading worship; creating lead sheets; developing theme-based worship services; working with instrumentalists and vocalists; and conducting rehearsals.
