Netter's season comes to an end
Shawnee, Okla. (November 12, 2010) — The JBU women’s volleyball team closed out their season on Friday afternoon after losing 1-3 (18-25, 25-27, 26-24, 14-25) to Wayland Baptist (Texas) during the first round of the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament hosted by Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee.
Sophomore Erin Didier had 11 kills and 16 digs in the losing effort, followed by junior Allie Rankin with 10 kills. Seniors Kirsten Lee and Amber Wilson had eight kills apiece, and sophomore Kassie Keeter added four, while senior setter Alyssa Hanson tossed out 35 assists. Defensively, junior Sarah Jordan picked up 36 digs, while Wilson had six block assists.
As a team, JBU had a hitting efficiency of .046%, while allowing WBU (19-8) to come away with a .138 hitting percentage.
Three Lady Pioneer players finished with double-digit kills led by Jennifer Wyatt with 13, while Kate Trejos and Desiree Luevano both added 12 each. Anika Voigt had 41 assists, and five players finished with 20 or more digs led by Tatiana Gomez and Luevano both with 25.
With this being a season ending match for the Lady Eagles, JBU says goodbye to Wilson, Lee, and Hanson. They’ve all been instrumental figures in JBU’s success over the last four years.
In her first year as head coach, Stacie Johnson led her squad to an 18-17 overall record and a sixth place finish in the SAC.
