Lubbock, Texas (October 30, 2010) - After claiming an overtime victory earlier in the week over Science and Arts (Okla.), the JBU men’s soccer team found themselves on the short end of the stick falling 1-2 to Lubbock Christian (Texas) in overtime on Saturday. The loss drops the men to 10-6-1 overall and 5-3-1 in the SAC.
JBU held a 1-0 lead at halftime after Juan Iraola scored unassisted in the 38th minute. But LCU managed to knot it up when Jorge Martinez connected with Chase Walker of the corner kick for the equalizer. It went back and forth from this point and neither team could find the back of the net in regulation.
In the overtime period, Martinez and Walker connected once again with Walker being the recipient of his second goal of the match coming off a header, which gave LCU the win.
The Chaps (9-5-2, 3-5-1 SAC) outshot the Eagles 15-12, but JBU had the shots on goal advantage 5-4.
The men will look to redeem themselves on the road on Tuesday against Oklahoma Christian at 8 p.m. in their final regular season match of the year.
