Gabriel Duarte had JBU's golden goal to help the JBU men beat No. 15 USAO 2-1 on Tuesday.

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 26, 2010) — In the 93rd minute of play, senior Juan Iraola managed to get behind several defenders before passing off to Gabriel Duarte for the golden goal that helped JBU’s men’s soccer team defeat No. 15 Science & Arts of Okla. 2-1 in overtime on Tuesday afternoon on Alumni Field.

After both teams got on the board early, neither could find a way to put it away in regulation. The Drovers’ Daniel Gibson scored the first goal of the match at the 6:38 mark for the 1-0 USAO lead, but JBU quickly responded when Iraola took advantage of a keeper mishandle and booted it in to tie things up in the eighth minute of action.

JBU’s keeper Pablo Garcia had several key stops that allowed the Eagles to come away with the win. Garcia finished with seven saves on the day.

With the win, JBU improves to 10-5-1 overall and are currently tied for second in the SAC with a 5-2-1 conference record.

USAO drops to 12-3 overall and 6-3 in the SAC.

The men are on the road for their two final matches of the regular season. They head to Lubbock Christian (Texas) for a 1:30 tilt on Saturday and then close out the year against Oklahoma Christian next Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Oklahoma City.
