Claremore, Okla. (October 16, 2010) - After a disappointing home loss to Oklahoma City last Tuesday, the JBU women’s soccer team returned to the field on Saturday evening with new focus and determination. The ladies eventually defeated Rogers State (Okla.) 3-0 improving their record to 8-3-1 overall and 4-2 in the SAC.
After a scoreless first half, JBU regrouped and went on a shooting spree in the second half. Freshman Ashley Cochran scored JBU’s first goal in the 50th minute and senior Alex McMichael made it 2-0 three minutes later. Senior Jodi Knack, JBU’s leading goal scorer this year, put in a third in the 88th minute to give the Lady Eagles the three goal victory. This was Knack’s ninth goal of the year.
JBU out shot RSU 25-3 with a 12-1 shots on goal advantage. Sophomore Faith Thurman earned the shutout after turning away one.
The ladies return to action on Wednesday at 1 p.m. when they take on Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee.
