JBU’s Student Newspaper Earns Award of Excellence

Siloam Springs, Ark. (May 20, 2010) — The Threefold Advocate, John Brown University’s student newspaper, has received an award of excellence from the Evangelical Press Association. The award was given during the annual convention held in Dallas this month. This contest honors the best work done by Evangelical Press Association publications during the calendar year 2009.

One of the judges at the competition said that the newspaper’s stories were well-written with creative leads, and that most headlines were inviting to read. Additionally, she said there were a good mix of articles, topics, and writing styles.

Grace Pennington, Threefold Advocate editor, said, “I am very excited that our newspaper and staff have won this award. It’s just another thing to show how hard and well our staff has worked together this year.”

This is the second award the student newspaper has earned this year. In April, the Arkansas College Media Association awarded the Threefold Advocate with one of the top student newspaper honors in the state.
