Graduate Commencement Ceremonies To Be Held at JBU
Siloam Springs, Ark. (May 11, 2010) — John Brown University will hold its commencement ceremony for Graduate and Advance students (degree completion) Saturday, May 15 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends of the graduating students will gather in the Walton Lifetime Health Complex, on the campus of JBU, for the festivities.
Dr. Joe Walenciak will be delivering the commencement address. He currently serves as the director of JBU graduate business program.
Walenciak has been part of the business faculty of John Brown University since 1982, holding a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Arkansas. During that time, he has led or participated in more than 50 short-term mission/service projects in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Jordan, and Northern Ireland. He has also spent a great deal of time in Guatemala, teaching at Universidad Francisco Marroquin, supporting SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) efforts, and working with ministry and community development efforts in Guatemala. In 2009, Walenciak was declared to be an "Ambassador of Peace" by the Guatemalan government in honor of his humanitarian work for the country.
