Eagles talk about "Character" on day off
Kansas City, Mo. (March 18, 2010) - The JBU men's basketball team spent Thursday morning speaking to a group of over 200 local elementary students from the Kansas City, Mo. area about the importance of having good character. Through the NAIA's Champions of Character initiative, the Golden Eagles, led by juniors Ryland Allen and Sam Bartlett, went over the five core values of the Champions of Character program which include respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. "Have respect for your parents," said Bartlett. "They know what they're talking about, even though when I was younger I didn't think that was always the case." The team closed out the morning signing autographs and taking photos with the students, teachers, and parents in attendance. The Golden Eagles defeated eighth-seeded McKendree (Ill.) 73-70 in overtime on Wednesday afternoon to advance to a Friday morning matchup against Fresno Pacific (Calif.) at 9 a.m.
