Oklahoma City (February 6, 2010) — The JBU men’s basketball team defeated Mid-America Christian 85-78 on Saturday night in the Gaulke Activity Center. The win moves the men to 17-7 overall and 9-7 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

Senior Davaughn Jackson led the way for JBU with 24 points and 10 rebounds. Abel Galliguez tossed in 13, and EJ McWoods added 12.

MACU (12-12, 8-8) got 15 points and seven rebounds from Darius Gregory.

JBU jumped ahead early taking a 20-4 lead before allowing the Evangels to come back and make it 45-41 JBU before halftime.

In the second period, JBU was able to extend their lead and went ahead by as many as 10 at one point before walking away with the seven point win. JBU never trailed in the contest.

For the game, JBU knocked down 50% of their shots compared to 42% from MACU. JBU controlled the boards winning 36-25.

JBU returns to the road on Thursday when they travel to Shawnee, Okla. to face St. Gregory’s. Game time is 8 p.m.
