Acclaimed Pianist and Baritone to Perform at JBU
Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 21, 2010) — The John Brown University Music Department will host pianist Chan Kiat Lim and baritone Shawn Roy as part of its Lyceum Concert series. Lim and Roy will perform a free, public concert on Sunday, Feb. 7 at 3 p.m. in Cathedral of the Ozarks on the JBU campus.
The duo has consistently performed music by twentieth-century American composers in each recital since their inception as a duo in 2005. Their selections for the Lyceum include music by composers Edwin Penhorwood, Ned Rorem, Thomas Pasatieri, Timothy Brown, and William Bolcom.
Both Roy and Lim graduated from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati. Roy received his Master’s and Artist Diploma in Opera and Lim received his Master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Piano Performance. Roy joined the faculty of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette School of Music in 1998 and serves as Voice Instructor as well as the Director of Opera and Musical Theatre studies. Lim is a member of the piano faculty at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he teaches applied piano, piano literature, and class piano.
