Jackson leads JBU to victory

Muskogee, Okla. (November 17, 2009) — The JBU men’s basketball team moved to 4-0 after defeating Bacone (Okla.) 72-67 in non-conference road action on Tuesday night.

Senior Davaughn Jackson posted 19 points and 13 boards to lead JBU. Junior Andrius Mikutis added 16, and freshman Colseson Rakestraw chipped in 14.

Bacone’s Chad Tyler led all scorers with 28 on the night.

JBU held a five point, 31-26, lead going into the locker room and managed to hold on for the win after Bacone matched the Golden Eagles point for point in the second period.

Overall, the Golden Eagles shot 41% (24-58) from the field while holding Bacone to 39% (24-61). JBU won the rebounding edge 37-32, but committed 16 turnovers while forcing 15.

JBU returns home on Saturday to face Central Baptist (Ark.) at 3 p.m.
