JBU Volleyball Ranked 22nd in the NAIA National Rankings

Siloam Springs, Ark (October 4, 2000) — The John Brown University Volleyball Team received a ranking of 22nd in the nation this week after posting a 4-0 record in the Region VI Challenge Tournament in Lubbock TX this past weekend. This is the first NAIA National Ranking for the JBU volleyball program. JBU now stands at 18-5 for the season.

Senior Melody Murray and Junior Amber Squires were named to the Region VI Challenge All-Tournament Team. Amber led JBU with 59 kills for the weekend. She also posted 16 blocks, 7 aces, 39 digs and passed at 90 percent. Melody led JBU with 51 digs for the weekend. She posted 48 kills, 10 blocks, 5 aces, and passed at 87 percent. Amber was also named NAIA Region VI Player of the Week for the second time this season.

“We had a great weekend and I am proud of the entire team,” said JBU Volleyball Coach Robyn Gordon. “We proved ourselves in our region and established our first ever national ranking. We are still working to improve, but it is nice to be nationally recognized for our accomplishments.”

John Brown University is a private university with an enrollment of over 1,500 students from 46 states and 30 countries. JBU is a member of the Arkansas Independent Colleges and Universities as well as the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities.
