Ft. Worth, Texas (September 19, 2009) - The JBU women’s volleyball team split 1-1 on day two of the Texas Wesleyan Tournament on Saturday. In their morning match, JBU fell 0-3 (22-25, 19-25, 23-25) to Ozarks (Mo.). In the evening match, they regrouped and easily put away Mary Hardin Baylor (Texas) 3-0 (25-23, 25-8, 25-13).
Against C of O (12-5), JBU (12-2) struggled putting the ball away. Freshman Erin Didier led the team with nine kills, but as a team, JBU’s hitting efficiency was .113, while Ozarks managed to put away .221 % of their attempts.
In their win over UMHB (3-12), Didier paced the team with 14 kills followed by junior Kirsten Lee with 10. Overall, the team improved their hitting efficiency to .330 % in the second match.
Senior Britney Kerns totaled 23 assists and junior Alyssa Hanson added 14.
Defensively, senior Shannon Proctor picked up 11 digs and Didier got 10. As a team JBU earned five blocks.
The ladies begin conference action this Tuesday when they travel to Shawnee, Okla. to face St. Gregory’s (Okla.). Game time is 7 p.m.
