Golfers finish in fifth

McPherson, Kan. (September 15, 2009) — The JBU men’s golf team completed day two of the Central Christian Invitational and remained in fifth place after posting a second round total of 299 for a two-day total of 599.

Sterling (Kan.) took home first place after shooting a combined total of 581 for both days.

Individually, sophomore West Loveland finished second overall with a total of 140 for both days, and freshman Taylor Mullings was hot on his trail with a third place finish after posting a total of 141.

Other notable JBU performers include junior Jeff Hobble with a 153, sophomore Matt Brooker with a 165, and freshman Nathan Sudheimer with a 166.

Head coach Brian Thomas said that he’s pleased with the way his team performed during this opening tournament and is eager to see how the team responds after a good outing.

“The guys have a lot of confidence after this win,” said Thomas. “We improved our scoring since last season but I know we can still do better.”

JBU will return to the fairway next Monday when they compete in the two-day Harding (Ark.) Bison Golf Classic in N. Little Rock.
