Siloam Springs, Ark. (July 21, 2009) - John Brown University head men’s soccer head John Miglarese has announced that Jesse Charles, who currently plays for Chattanooga FC, a semi-pro club of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), will be the new men’s assistant coach beginning August 1.
“I am very excited to add Jesse to our staff,” said Miglarese. “He is exactly what I want in an assistant coach, and acquiring his services only strengthens our ability to provide a fantastic college soccer experience for the players in the program.”
Charles, who will also be pursuing his master’s degree in counseling from JBU, will assist Miglarese in all facets of the program with an emphasis on recruiting and developing a mentoring/discipleship program for the team.
“Jesse has a passion for the game and a strong desire to invest in the lives of our student-athletes which makes him a perfect fit for this position,” added Miglarese.
As a member of Chattanooga FC, Charles helped guide the team to a second place finish in the South Division standings. Chattanooga also enjoyed the highest attendance of any team in the NPSL.
Charles began his collegiate soccer career while playing two seasons (2002-2003) at Montreat College in North Carolina. After that, he transferred to Covenant College (Ga.) where he played during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. At Covenant, he was team captain and an all-conference selection in 2006.
