Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 2, 2009) — Over the weekend, the John Brown University athletic department spent several hours assisting HOPE distributors in Tontitown as a part of the Champions of Character program of the NAIA.
Nineteen members, which included athletic department staff and student athletes, participated in the event that helped HOPE, which supplies over 120 food pantries and camps in the four-state area, sort and bag candy, cereal, plastic utensils and shampoo/conditioner packs for people in need.
“This was a great experience for all,” said JBU Director of Athletics Robyn Daugherty. “Our hope is that this relationship continues and that it grows into a partnership between HOPE and the entire JBU community.”
The NAIA Champions of Character program is an educational outreach initiative which emphasizes the core character values of respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship, not only for NAIA college students, but for younger students, coaches and parents in our communities.
