Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 17, 2009) - John Brown University will once again welcome a large crowd for its annual family weekend Friday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 21. Over 400 people are expected to attend this year’s event held on JBU’s main campus. The weekend will give families of current students a chance to enjoy campus activities and get to know the JBU community a little better. Activities will kick off on Friday with a special chapel featuring JBU president, Dr. Charles Pollard. That day, parents will be able to sit in on regular JBU classes and have lunch with professors. The student presentation of the play“The Miracle Worker” by William Gibson will take place on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the Jones Recital Hall. “The Miracle Worker” is the story of Helen Keller and her teacher Annie Sullivan. With the help of Sullivan, Keller became the first deaf-blind person to earn a bachelor of arts degree. Show times and ticket information are available by calling 479-524-7382. Saturday afternoon brings the chance to watch the Golden Eagles women’s and men’s basketball team take on Mid-America Christian at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively. The fun-filled weekend caps off on Saturday night with a yearly tradition, the student talent and variety show. Performances are at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Due to the popularity of the shows, tickets are required and can be purchased on campus for $1 each.
