Lubbock, Texas (January 30, 2009) — It was a good night for JBU men’s basketball as they blasted conference rival Lubbock Christian (Texas) 88-65 in road action on Thursday night. The win propels the Golden Eagles to 15-6 overall and 8-5 in the SAC.

Davaughn Jackson led the way for JBU with 19 points and five boards. Three other players finished in double digits led by Cody Page with 18 and Jarrett McGriff and Abel Galliguez with 12 each.

Kenny Hewitt finished with 17 points leading the Chaps (9-9, 4-8).

The Golden Eagles sprinted out of the gate at an unbelievable pace and LCU just couldn’t catch up. After nailing over 73% in the first half, JBU held on to a 31 point, 60-29, first half lead.

The hole was too big for LCU to overcome in the second half and the Golden Eagles were able to put it in cruise control the rest of the way.

For the night, JBU finished shooting 61% (30-of-49) including 53% (9-of-17) from long distance.

LCU struggled only hitting 36% (21-of-58) from the floor including a measly 25% (8-of-32) from three point territory.

The Golden Eagles also won the rebounding battle 36-31 and forced 16 turnovers while only committing 12.

Up next, JBU travels to Wayland Baptist (Plainview, Texas) on Saturday for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
