Men's Basketball Falls in Exhibition Play

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 18, 2008) — It was a battle of Golden Eagles on Monday night as the NAIA JBU Golden Eagles took on the NCAA Division I Oral Roberts (Okla.) Golden Eagles in exhibition play. In the end, ORU came out on top 82-58.

JBU came out hot opening the game up with a 20-10 lead with 11:26 left in the first half. But ORU was able to cut the gap and take their first lead of the night 22-20 with 6:53 left before intermission. ORU closed out the half on a 15-8 run taking a 37-28 lead into the locker room.

In the second half, JBU struggled to get rolling as thirteen points would be as close as it would get while ORU continued to extend their lead.

Andrius Mikutis led JBU with 12 points off the bench after going 3-of-8 from the field, including 2-of-4 from three point territory, and 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. He also added five rebounds and two assists.

Robert Jarvis scored a game high 25 points to lead ORU.

JBU was held to 37.5 percent (18-48) shooting despite the hot start. JBU also committed 25 turnovers on the night.

ORU shot 49.2-percent (31-63) shooting night, including a 10-of-26 effort from 3-point range. ORU out-rebounded JBU, 35-33, while handing out 18 assists and collecting nine steals.

JBU returns to action when they head to the Southwestern Assemblies of God Classic taking place on Friday-Saturday. On Friday, JBU plays Dallas Christian at 6 p.m., and on Saturday they face off against host SAGU at 6 p.m.
