The JBU women’s basketball team blasted Texas Wesleyan 77-28 on Monday night in non-conference action in Murray Sells Gymnasium.
JBU jumped out to an early 11-2 lead at the 16:20 mark and never looked behind after that. After taking a 45-15 lead into the locker room, JBU came out in the second half and continued to build on their margin scoring 32 points in the second half.
Several JBU players reached double digits led by the post combination of freshman Chelsea Garrison and sophomore Ashley Taylor both with 16 points and seven and five rebounds respectively. Junior forward Amber Vogts picked up the double double with 11 points 10 caroms, and junior forward Lenece Glossett grabbed 12 boards to go with five points.
For the Lady Rams, Brittany Davenport led with nine points.
Overall, JBU took a 61-34 rebounding edge, 13 off the team record (74) set in 1982 against Southwest Baptist.
As a team, JBU shot 42% (26-62) for the game while holding TWU to 17% (10-60). JBU continued to struggle from beyond the arc, however, only hitting 21% (4-19) of their attempts.
Up next, the women will remain at home as they look to face Dallas Christian on Saturday at 3 p.m.
