Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 4, 2008) - The JBU men’s basketball team knocked down the Bacone Warriors 82-67 on Tuesday night at home in Murray Sells Gymnasium. The win moves JBU to 2-0 on the year.
JBU took a 10 point 42-32 lead into the break after a strong first half from junior forward Davaughn Jackson who posted 16 first half points. Jackson finished with 18.
In the second half, Jackson cooled off but sophomore Andrius Mikutis picked up the slack scoring 12 of his 20 game high points in the second. Mikutis was also strong on the glass sharing the rebounding high with senior Cody Page with 10 apiece. Page added 15 to the point column.
As a team, JBU shot an overwhelming 55% from the floor including 33% from long range while holding Bacone to 36% shooting. JBU also crushed Bacone on the boards with a 47-32 advantage.
Individually for Bacone, Chad Tyler finished with a team high 15 points.
Up next, JBU heads to Moore, Okla. on Friday to take on Hillsdale Freewill Baptist at 7 p.m. In the first game on the season, JBU defeated Hillsdale 96-64.
