Men Lose to Bison
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 21, 2008) — After taking an early 2-0 lead, the John Brown University men’s soccer team couldn’t hold on and fell 3-2 to Oklahoma Baptist in SAC play.
JBU (6-6-1, 2-4-1) scored two goals in the opening 15 minutes of play. In the 12th minute, sophomore Vinicius Morais earned the assist after setting up sophomore Juan Iraola for a 1-0 lead. Then three minutes later, JBU struck again when sophomore midfielder Gabriel Duarte converted a penalty kick for a 2-0 advantage.

The second half was all Bison, as they held the Golden Eagles scoreless while adding two more goals to their point total. With 37 minutes remaining Eduardo Acedo scored to tie things up 2-2, and in the 80th minute James Gilreath scored the decider.
OBU (12-2-2, 5-0-2) out-shot the Golden Eagles 25-12 and put 14 shots on goal, with JBU’s Spencer Watson collecting 11 saves. Jacob Hibbard picked up the keeper win with four saves.
Up next, JBU will take a break from conference play when they face Columbia (Mo.) at home on Saturday at 2 p.m.
