JBU Students to Host Political Forum
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 14, 2008) — John Brown University students will host a political forum on Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Cathedral of the Ozarks prior to the televised presidential debate. The JBU student club, Fulcrum: the forum, has invited Arkansas director of Young Democrats, Gary Moody, and Republican Arkansas State Representative Eric Harris to present the views of their respective parties and their parties’ presidential candidates. Presidential Forum 2008 will allow each party to give their view on a variety of topics including the vice presidency, the economy, the environment, immigration, the war in Iraq and healthcare. "The Presidential Forum is designed to provide the JBU and Northwest Arkansas communities with an effective resource for comparing the policies of both Presidential candidates,” said Scott Key, JBU Senior and director of Fulcrum. “We believe that once you strip away the smear campaigns, the rumors, and the political fluff, voters can make more informed choices. As Christians, we have a God-given duty to use their minds to glorify God and to build the Kingdom. Informed voting is a fantastic avenue for this." A watch party for the presidential debate will start at 8 p.m. The community is invited to attend this free event.
