Dr. Thomas Elected to Executive Committee of NCHC
Siloam Springs, Ark (January 11, 2000) — Dr. Shirley Forbes Thomas, Associate Dean of Core Curriculum and Honors Scholars at John Brown University, was recently elected to the Executive Committee of the National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC). Thomas was one of nine people nominated in June for four seats available on the 20-member Executive Committee.
The NCHC is made up of over 500 institutional members including private and state-funded colleges and universities nationwide. The association draws up honors program guidelines for schools and is currently working on a long-range, five-year plan to help honors directors at member institutions manage their honors programs.
"I’m glad that someone from a small Christian school has been elected to the Executive Committee," Thomas said. "I’m excited to be a part of this organization because it is a powerful agent for educational reform and change."
