Siloam Springs, Ark. (May 30, 2008) — Students from the John Brown University business team “Enterra” wrapped up their time in the Governor’s Cup competition at the first ever Reynolds Tri-State Governor's Cup Business Plan Competition. The two top ranking teams from the Arkansas, Nevada, and Oklahoma competed in Las Vegas at the Red Rock Resort for a $25,000 prize. JBU was the only private university competing at the undergraduate level of the competition. "John Brown University teams are always among the best competitors at every level of the Donald W. Reynolds Governor's Cup competition,” said Sam Walls, CEO of Arkansas Capitol Group and Coordinator of the Donald W. Reynolds Governor's Cup competition. “I look for them to be frequent participants in the tri-state event." “Enterra”, composed of five recent JBU business graduates, placed second at the Arkansas Governor's Cup in April and won $11,000 and the privilege of representing Arkansas and JBU in the tri-state competition. The business plan developed by “Enterra” was to open a retail store specializing in organic, recycled and fair-trade apparel and accessories. Their business plan was required to include a mission, vision, strategy, marketing, financials and investment opportunities for the first five years of business.

“I am very proud of the students involved in ‘Enterra’,” said Mrs. Mandy Moore, business instructor and team advisor. “They did the best they ever have during their presentation. Although they did not win first or second in the tri-state competition, they represented Arkansas very well. They made me proud to be an aluma and faculty member from JBU.” “It was an honor to represent Arkansas,” said Marcus Naramore, recent JBU grad and “Enterra” team member. “Arkansas is absolutely a leader in the US business climate, and a leader in Green business development, so I truly felt honored to represent such a growing, environmentally conscious population.” Team “Enterra,” included Marcus Naramore, Micah Williams, John Williams, Maria Jose Valencia Merlos and Yaribeth Pacheco.
