Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 1, 2008) - The JBU women’s basketball team looked headed for the upset after a stellar first half performance at home against Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday afternoon. Oklahoma Baptist, though, ruined their plans after coming back in the second half to claim a 73-56 victory over JBU.
JBU (10-20, 5-17) had a 42-37 lead over the No. 8 Lady Bison at the intermission behind Ashley Taylor’s 17 first half points.
In the second half, OBU (27-3, 19-3) put the clamps down on defense and held JBU to only 14 second half points.
Taujhnae Travis finished the game with 21 points, five rebounds, and six assists for OBU.
Freshman Ashley Taylor finished with a game-high 24 points and seven boards for JBU. Sophomore Lenece Glossett added 12.
JBU, who only hit four second half field goals, shot 42% (20-48) for the game.
They also lost the rebounding battle 29-38 and committed 25 turnovers to 21 from OBU.
With the regular season coming to an end, the women will await the release of the conference tournament bracket, where they will play as the number nine seed. The bracket will be released on Monday, March 3.
