Conway, Ark. (February 18, 2008) - Over the weekend, both men’s and women’s tennis teams kicked off their seasons competing in a two day tennis event hosted by Hendrix College in Conway, Ark. Overall, both JBU teams finished 1-2 after they both defeated Lyon (Ark.) on day one and fell to Ozarks (Ark.) and Hendrix in the final two matches.
On the men’s side, Peter Thulson, Nick Robbins, and Austin Phillips each picked up two wins in singles action, while Kasey Wiens, Amanda Keenan, and Carrie Bogdanoff picked up two wins each in women’s singles matches.
In doubles play, the pair of Robbins and Christian Bouscayrol earned two wins after defeating Lyon 8-5 and Ozarks 8-3. Thulson and Phillips also had a key victory for JBU after defeating Hendrix 8-4.
For the women, Melinda Malliet and Amanda Keenan defeated Ozarks 8-3, while teammates Emily Caneday and Audrey Phillips won 8-1 over Ozarks.
Up next, both teams will take on Harding (Ark.) at home on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 1 p.m.
