JBU Women's Basketball "Thinks Pink"
Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 11, 2008) — As apart of an effort to raise breast cancer awareness, the John Brown University women’s basketball team will take part in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association’s (WBCA) “Think Pink” initiative.
The WBCA’s “Think Pink” initiative is a global, unified effort for the WBCA’s nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities, and beyond.
“Anytime you can draw attention to something to make people help out it’s a good thing,” said head women’s coach Jeff Soderquist. “Cancer has affected so many people, and we feel it’s important to do our part to help raise awareness.”
During their games this week, the players will wear pink t-shirts during the pre-game warm-ups. The coaches will also participate by wearing “Think Pink” t-shirts during the game.
The women play at home this Thursday against Southern Nazarene (Okla.) at 6 p.m. and then travel to take on Science and Arts of Okla. on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Chickasha.
