JBU Faculty, Staff and Students Bring “Ruddigore” to Life
Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 30, 2008) — In a partnership with the Sager Creek Arts Center, John Brown University faculty, staff and students collaborate to bring Gilbert and Sullivan’s musical “Ruddigore” to life. The comic operetta opening Thursday, Feb. 7 at Sager Creek Arts Center tells a supernatural story of a villain, a poor-but-virtuous heroine, a hero in disguise and ancestors who come back to life. “Ruddigore”, also called “The Witch’s Curse”, is a parody in which Gilbert turns the moral absolutes of melodrama upside down. Once inside the tale you begin to see the good become bad and bad become good as the heroes take the easy way out. Performances will be Thursday- Saturday, Feb. 7-9 and Thursday- Saturday, Feb. 14-16 starting at 7 p.m. each night. There will also be a special JBU Family Weekend showing on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10:15 a.m. All shows will be held in the Sager Creek Arts Center located in downtown Siloam Springs, AR. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for SCAC members and $6 for students. Tickets may be reserved by calling SCAC at (479) 524-4000.
