Oklahoma City, Okla. (January 19, 2008) - John Brown University men’s and women’s basketball teams were in action on Saturday night against conference opponent Oklahoma Christian Eagles. The women fell in the early game 67-50, while the men dropped a 72-53 decision in the late contest.
For the women, the loss drops them to 6-11 overall and 1-8 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
After falling behind 33-20 at halftime, the Lady Golden Eagles couldn’t regroup in the second half as OC pulled away for the 17-point win.
Ashley Taylor led JBU with 12 points. Lindsey Gipson had a game high 16 points for OC.
In men’s action, an 18 point effort from Joel Tesis wasn’t enough as Oklahoma Christian got 30 points from Jason Taylor.
Taylor led Oklahoma Christian to a 34-24 lead at intermission and extended it to as many as 21 points late in the second half en route to the 19 point win.
The Golden Eagles, still playing without starters Cody Page and James Manthe, dropped to 9-8 overall and 2-7 in the SAC.
Both JBU teams return to the floor when they return to Oklahoma City to take on Mid-American Christian on Thursday, Jan. 24 at 6 and 8 p.m.
