Parkville, Mo. (November 19, 2007) - Recovering from a tough home loss over the weekend, John Brown men’s basketball was back in action on the road for a non-conference matchup against Park (Mo.) on Monday tonight. JBU (6-1) took control of the game from the tip and never looked behind crushing Park 81-52.
JBU took a 52-31 lead into the locker after torching the nets in the first half. The Golden Eagles shot an impressive 56% (19-34) from the floor including 57% (12-21) from downtown.
The closest Park (4-5) managed to get in the second half was 22 points. But JBU continued their hot shooting throughout the half extending the lead to as many as 35 at one point.
Cody Page lit up the stat sheet with a game high 25 points after draining seven treys. Andrius Mikutis and Wes Brown were the only other players in double digits with 13 and 12 points respectively. Brown also grabbed seven boards. JBU finished the game shooting 56% (30-53).
John Brown totally cleaned the glass, grabbing 42 boards to only 24 from Park. JBU also converted 21 Park turnovers into 21 points.
Park also struggled finding their shot only shooting 33% (18-54) for the game. The lone bright spot for Park was Michael Zimmerman who led them with 12 points.
John Brown will be away from competition for the next 10 days but returns to the hardwood on Thursday, Nov. 29th when they open conference play on the road against the NAIA’s No. 1 ranked Oklahoma City Stars.
