Women's Soccer Quiets Crimson Storm
Bethany, Okla. (October 13, 2007) — The Sooner Athletic Conference’s top ranked John Brown University women’s soccer team remained undefeated in SAC action after defeating Southern Nazarene (Okla.) 2-0 while the men fell 0-1 on the road Saturday afternoon.
JBU scored the first goal of the day when Camille Malkiewicz assisted Sarah Kidd’s goal in the 20th minute. This would be Kidd’s 12th goal on the year.
After entering the intermission with the 1-0 lead, JBU would score again in the 58th minute after Jodi Knack put Melinda Gentry’s assist away to go ahead by two.
John Brown (10-3, 6-0) had 12 shots on goal while limiting Southern Nazarene to seven.
Natalie Wall collected seven saves in the winning effort.
The women return to play on Tuesday when they travel to Chickasha, Okla. to face Science and Arts of Okla. at 1:00 p.m.
In men’s action, the Golden Eagles fell 1-0 to fourth ranked Southern Nazarene.
Damian Gunaratne scored the only goal of the game in the 38th minute off the assist from Cameron Doom. JBU was unable to convert on several shot attempts, but did manage to hold SNU scoreless for the remainder of the match while limiting them to only seven shots on goal.
John Brown (4-7, 1-3) looks to improve on the year when they also travel to Chickasha, Okla. to face USAO at 3:00 p.m.
