Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 6, 2007) - John Brown women’s volleyball defeated visiting Mid-America Christian (Okla.) 3-1 (30-19, 34-32, 19-30, 30-25) on Homecoming Saturday. The win moves JBU to 9-11 overall and 4-2 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. JBU controlled the tempo in game one and cruised to the 30-19 victory. But game two saw a more aggressive MACU team take the floor and extend the game to the limit. JBU, however, would come away with the 34-32 win after several key stops. Mid-American Christian would take advantage of a tired JBU squad and claim the third game 30-19. However, the Golden Eagles would regroup in the fourth and secure the match with the 30-25 win. Individually, Amber Wilson paced the team with 16 kills, while Laurae Marty pitched in with 14 kills and four blocks. Christi Newton also had a big game for JBU with 10 kills and seven blocks. And setters Alyssa Hanson and Britney Kerns totaled 29 and 28 assists respectively. On the defensive end, junior Aubrey Junker had 22 digs while serving up three aces. John Brown will return to action next Friday when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa to participate in the two-day Grand View Tournament. On Friday JBU faces Avila (Mo.) at 2:00 p.m. and Grand View at 6:00 p.m. And on Saturday JBU will take on Mayville State (N.D.) at 9:00 a.m. and Jamestown (N.D.) at 11 a.m.
