Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 28, 2007) - John Brown University will welcome over 500 alumni and friends to campus, Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6 for its annual Homecoming celebration. Several events are planned to make Homecoming a special time for alumni, students, faculty and staff. The classes of ’57, ’62, ’67, ’72, ’77, ’82, ’87, ’92, ’97, and ‘02 will have a reunion; there will be special celebrations for The Sound Generation as the group commemorates 40 years of music; and the men's soccer program celebrates 30 years of team sports. Jerry Rollene, director of alumni and parent relations as well as a graduate of JBU’s class of ’75, said he is especially excited about The Sound Generation, a musical group that showcased its talent across the country throughout the ’60s and ’70s. The JBU soccer program was started by missionary kids who wanted to bring a sport that was part of their culture to campus. Many of the original team members will be honored during halftime of the men’s soccer game at 3 p.m. Saturday when they take on Oklahoma Christian University. The Homecoming finale on Saturday will be the Showcase performance in the Cathedral of the Ozarks from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., featuring The Sound Generation. “The Sound Generation and the soccer team are perfect examples of JBU students who got excited about an idea and made it happen,” Rollene said. “It is a testament for current students to take their passions and turn them into something positive.” A complete Homecoming schedule of events is available on www.jbualumni.com, or call 1-888-JBU-ALUM.
