Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 8, 2007) - During the second day of competition at the Bethel (Tenn.) College Tournament, the John Brown University women’s soccer team fell 2-1 against 10th ranked Bethel on Saturday. Bethel would tally the first goal in the 24th minute, but JBU’s Sarah Kidd would strike with the equalizer unassisted in the 30th minute. This would be Kidd’s third goal in as many matches.
JBU’s defense would step up in the second half and hold off the Bethel attack for almost the entire second half. However, in the 86th minute, Bethel would convert a free kick just outside the box into the game winning goal.
“The defense played extremely well this match,” said head coach Joe Thoma. “And Natalie Wall also did a great job for us. She had three tremendous one-on-one saves that kept us in the match, but unfortunately we weren’t able to put it away.”
John Brown (2-3-0) will return to action at home on Tuesday against Northwood (Texas) at 4 p.m.
