Sheehy Leaves Murray Sells with a Win
Siloam Springs, Ark. (February 24, 2007) — After 18 years of coaching in Murray Sells Gymnasium, head coach John Sheehy, along with seniors Adam Workman and Diogenes Molina, said goodbye to the home crowd with a 76-67 win over St. Gregory’s (Okla.). Senior Adam Workman, also performing in his last game for John Brown, led the game with 26 points and seven rebounds. Derek Washington led St. Gregory’s (8-21, 2-16) with 19 points and nine boards.
John Brown (17-13, 8-10) was down two at the half, but fought back and regained the lead early in the half. They never looked back increasing the lead to as many as 15 at one point.
JBU shot 43 percent (23-53) from the floor including 44 percent (11-25) from long range. SGU also shot well from the floor nailing 41 percent of their shots (23-56). John Brown also connected on 19-of-26 shots from the charity stripe while SGU managed to only hit 12-of-19 attempts.
JBU also won the rebounding battle 42-28.
With the win John Brown finishes tied for fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference and looks to play in the first round of the SAC tournament on Friday evening at Oklahoma Christian.
