JBU Women Fall to Stars
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 10, 2006) — The John Brown Golden Eagles gave up a goal in both halves to Oklahoma City, losing 2-0 Tuesday in Siloam Springs.
In the 38th minute, Jessica Caudle tapped a short, 6-yard shot in past the left post on an assist by Sarah Leonard. In the 79th minute, Leonard scored on a breakaway inside the penalty box. Oklahoma City (8-2-1, 6-1-1 SAC) attempted 10 shots-on-goal to John Brown’s 3. John Brown (3-8-1, 3-4-1 SAC) held a 3-1 advantage on corner kicks, but could neither capitalize on those opportunities nor on a couple of free kicks. Golden Eagle sophomore goalkeeper Megan Rouse made 6 saves, while the Stars’ Alycia Allenby made 3.
Head coach Joe Thoma said, “We just didn’t execute, and that makes it tough to get in and get a shot on goal. We’ve got to control the ball and get it from our defenders up to our forwards, and we didn’t do that today.”
The Golden Eagles play next on Friday at 1:00 in Chickasha, Okla., against Science & Arts.
