Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 3, 2006) - The John Brown Golden Eagles fell behind Oklahoma Christian early Friday night and never recovered, dropping their first-round Sooner Athletic Conference tournament game 86-73 in Shawnee, Okla. Brandon Cole, the SAC Player of the Year, led the Golden Eagle with 28 points, including seven 3-pointers. Oklahoma Christian’s Brady Page also scored 28 points.
Oklahoma Christian took a 47-25 lead into halftime and held on against a John Brown surge in the second half. Oklahoma Christian shot 51.8% (29-for-56) from the field, while John Brown shot just 31.9% (23-for-72). Alex Terry scored 11 points and dished out 8 assists, while Adam Workman also scored 11 points. Joel Tesis contributed 7 points and 13 rebounds, four of them off the offensive glass.
Dillon Ripley scored 15 points for Oklahoma Christian. Charles Baldwin and Keith Harris added 14 and 12, respectively.
John Brown (16-14) will now wait until next week to see whether or not it will receive an at-large bid for the 32-team NAIA National Tournament in Kansas City, Mo.
