Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 7, 2006) - The John Brown Golden Eagles remained winless on the road this season after their 66-58 loss to Northwestern Oklahoma State Saturday in Alva, Okla. Tramain Davis led the Rangers with 16 points and hit all six of his free-throw attempts, part of Northwestern’s 72% team effort in that department. Brandon Cole hit five 3-pointers and all four of his free-throw attempts in scoring 19 points for the Golden Eagles.
Cole’s second three-point basket gave John Brown (6-8, 1-2 SAC) an 11-4 lead seven minutes into the first half, but Northwestern (10-3, 1-1 SAC) went ahead 13-11 at the 9:37 mark on a three-pointer by Craig Wood. The lead changed twice more before the Rangers claimed a 28-27 halftime lead. Northwestern kept John Brown at least four points back for the final 19 minutes of play, quashing all of the Golden Eagles’ attempted rallies.
LaRon Bradley scored 12 points for the Rangers and was joined in double figures by Shane Hansen with 11 and Wood with 10. Adam Workman scored 11 for the Golden Eagles, and Alex Terry added 10 points and 6 assists. Terry is averaging 7.3 assists-per-game since the start of Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Both teams shot close to 39% from the field and 28% from three-point territory, but Northwestern out-rebounded John Brown 46-30.
John Brown travels to Plainview, Texas, Thursday to take on Wayland Baptist at 8:00.
