Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 31, 2005) - Poor shooting from all areas of the floor hampered both the 21st-ranked John Brown Golden Eagles and the Park Pirates Saturday in Parkville, Mo., but it was the Pirates who finished on top, winning 58-48. Rachel Bankhead and Cherrale Ricks both scored 14 points for Park, and Tiffany Alexander added 12 points. Katie Cummings contributed a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Pirates. John Brown’s only player in double figures was Kendra McCormick with 13. Neither team shot above 30% in the first half, and John Brown held a slim 19-18 lead going into the locker room at halftime. They built their lead as high as 5 on a 3-pointer by Alicia Baer with 18:36 left, but the Pirates managed to tie the game 29-29 four minutes later on a basket by Bankhead. John Brown never lead again, and Park lead by as many as 13 before settling for a 10-point victory.
John Brown (8-4) travels to Shawnee, Okla., Monday to face Oklahoma Baptist at 6:00.
