Wells, Todescan Named Honorable Mention All-Americans
Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 6, 2005) — John Brown volleyball players Christine Wells and Juliana Todescan were named NAIA Honorable Mention All-Americans Tuesday. Wells, a senior from Red Oak, Texas, posted 1,024 digs, 51 aces, a 93.48% serve receive percentage, and a 93% serving percentage in 2005. She was named to the Region VI and Sooner Athletic Conference First Teams as well as the SAC All-Tournament Team. She was also honored as the Region VI and SAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Wells received Region VI or SAC weekly honors 11 times during the season, and was named the National Libero of the Week for the week of Oct. 3. She holds the John Brown record for digs with 2,840 in her four-year career as well as the school record for games played with 585.
Todescan, a junior from Sao Paulo, Brazil, posted 1,859 assists, 604 digs, 261 kills, and 81 aces in 2005. She was named to both the Region VI and Sooner Athletic Conference First Teams and was the SAC Most Valuable Player. She also received the double-honor of being named the Setter of the Year in both Region VI and the SAC. Todescan received Region VI or SAC weekly honors 13 times. She ranks second in assists at John Brown with 3,616 in just two seasons of play and needs just 567 more to break the record. She also ranks third in career service aces at John Brown with 201.
