Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 2, 2005) - John Brown women’s soccer player Nikki Ganter was named to the NAIA All-America third team this week. The junior forward from Sachse, Texas, scored 14 goals and contributed 12 assists this season for the Sooner Athletic Conference and Region VI champion Golden Eagles. Ganter was the Most Valuable Player for both the Sooner Athletic Conference and Region VI this season as well. She is the first women’s soccer All-American at John Brown.
“It’s exciting to have our first All-American,” head coach Joe Thoma commented. “Nikki’s worked really hard, and we’re proud of her. If we had advanced in the national tournament, we might have had two or three more players on the list.”
Ganter added, “It’s an amazing feeling, but I didn’t do it on my own. I had the whole team behind me.”
The John Brown women’s soccer team earned its first national tournament berth this fall in just its fourth season of play.
