Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 24, 2005) - The John Brown Golden Eagles women’s swim team split a meet in Abilene, Texas, this weekend, defeating host McMurry 124-75 and losing to Southwestern (Texas) 104-78.
John Brown’s Ashley Kenline won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.58 seconds, and Laura Ravenscroft finished third in 1:01.18. Gabby McCully won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:16.63, more than four seconds ahead of McMurry’s Lindsey Odom.
Earlier, Kenline claimed second place in the 50-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 26.79. McCully took second in the 200-yard Individual Medley, finishing in 2:30.33, and Ravenscroft swam second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:12.57. Gabe Ives also had two second-place finishes for John Brown. She finished the 1000-yard freestyle in 12:09.36 and the 100-yard butterfly in 1:11.92.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Ashley Kenline, Jenny Brown, Laura Ravenscroft, and Gabby McCully qualified for the NAIA Nationals with a second-place finish of 1:50.32.
