Siloam Springs, Ark (October 30, 1997) - Dr. Alan Loy McGinnis, the founder and director of Valley Counseling Center in Glendale, Calif., will speak at John Brown University chapel services on Tuesday, Nov. 4, and Thursday, Nov. 6. The 10:30 a.m. services will be held in the Cathedral of the Ozarks as part of the Staley Lecture Series at JBU. Admission is free and open to the public.
McGinnis will speak about "The Friendship Factor," the name of his first book, which has sold one and a half million copies and has been translated into 15 languages. Dr. McGinnis is a dynamic and humorous speaker who lectures to over 100,000 people each year at churches, universities and management conferences. A Presbyterian clergyman as well as a family therapist, he has been a guest on more than 400 radio and TV talk shows. He has given seminars for companies such as IBM and Clorox, and has published over 50 articles in national magazines.
Dr. McGinnis comes to JBU through the support of the Thomas F. Staley Foundation, a private, non-profit organization established to administer funds to further the evangelical witness of the Christian Church. The foundation especially reaches out to college students, funding the presentation of gifted speakers of the Christian message for Spiritual Enrichment Weeks, special lecture series, and seminars on basic Christianity.
